Management of the Digital Strategy - making it happen

What is different about the Digital Strategy?

Many government lead projects have been working more or less independently on many fronts over the past years. There hasn’t been a mechanism for pulling actions together for maximum benefit.

The Digital Strategy does that by:

  • bringing the three parallel streams of work (Content, Confidence, Connection) together,
  • researching and co-ordinating government action with initiatives being implemented by businesses, local government, or community organisations,
  • assessing project proposals and allocating funding.

In order to make The Digital Strategy happen, we need communities, local government, and the private sector to be actively involved.

To keep the Digital Strategy moving we have setup a Governance / Management Structure to ensure we know what is going on and to ensure we recognise and taken action on areas where help is needed.

How it works

The Digital Strategy is a whole of Government process and is overseen by a group of Digital Ministers. At the heart of the operational development of the Digital Strategy is a Steering Group of senior Government Officials who work with Digital Ministers and their Agencies / Sectors to get action. An Advisory Group of senior and respected government Chief Executives, business and community experts has been setup to take a critical look at ICT in New Zealand and to advise Digital Ministers on what they believe could be done better. All of this activity is co-ordinated by a Secretariat.

Have a look at the diagram to see how it all comes together.
