The Advisory Group

The Advisory Group advise Digital Ministers on the overall direction of the Digital Strategy including, priorities for future action, areas for government attention, and how to engage stakeholders.

The Advisory Group are appointed on an individual basis based on their areas of interest and expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the evolution of the Strategy by identifying areas for government, private and community sector actions;
  • Give independent perspectives on priorities or focus for future action in implementing the Strategy;
  • Give advice on the criteria for the allocation of contestable funds;
  • Identify issues and international trends which may impact on or enhance New Zealand’s uptake of ICT;
  • Provide advice on and assistance with consultation with non-government stakeholders involved with implementing the Strategy; and
  • Act as a sounding board for groups charged with implementation of the Strategy.

Chief Executive of IBM New Zealand Ltd and member of Information Technology Association of New Zealand.
 
Graeme Osborne
Deputy Co-Chair
Chief Information Officer for ACC. Board member of TUANZ.
Sarah Thomson
Chief Executive, Diabetes New Zealand Ms Thomson has extensive experience in the community and voluntary sector.
Malcolm Alexander General Manager - Corporate Affairs, Genesis Energy. Chair of the Telecommunications Carriers' Forum.
Hamish Crookes Chairman of the Matagi E Fa Trust, a Pacific Charitable Trust to provide a vehicle for Pacific Peoples to get involved in the information technology sector through education, training, community and economic development.
Robyn Kamira A founding member of Society of Professional Maori Women in Information Technology, who has extensive experience in Maori IT and education initiatives.
Prashanta Mukherjee Mr Mukherjee has twenty years in the ICT industry and is a founding trustee of The Big Idea Charitable Trust, which operates the largest online community of arts and culture people in New Zealand.
Paul Reynolds  Member of the Library and Information Advisory Commission and of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Science.
Dr Sachio Semmoto
International Advisor
Chief Executive, eAccess a private telecommunications company in Japan. He divides his time between Japan and New Zealand.
Richard Excell
International Advisor
Senior Industrialist Adviser to the UK's Department of Trade and Industry Innovation Unit and member of NZTE’s UK Beach Head Advisory Board.
