Community Partnership funding to create a self-contained 'Green Rig' that will promote a hands-on learning approach to environmental education and promote the use of technology in the rural sector.
The Horizons Regional Council’s ‘Green Rig’ mobile classroom and exhibition space has been travelling the region. In the first three months, over 6,000 people have played with its interactive exhibits, taken part in demonstrations and education programmes, used its resources, and engaged with its cutting-edge technology. “The Manawatu-Wanganui region’s drive towards a brighter shade of green is now a reality.”

Community Partnership funding is extending the Computers in Homes scheme to 150 families in 5 schools throughout the Wanganui District
At end of October 2007, 91 families from Wanganui graduated from the first Computers in Homes projects funded under the CPF contract. New local school partners, including Wanganui City College, will deliver remaining participant placements. A project Blog has now been published to share ongoing awareness.

Community Partnership funding will assist in making Kete software available for download and installation and to establish an ongoing online Kete community of users and developers. The Trust will also create training materials to assist in the customisation and use of Kete.
Kete is software that combines aspects of Digital Libraries/Repositories, Knowledge and Content Management Systems, and collaboration tools such as Wikis to make it easy to add and relate content on a Kete site. Kete Version 1.0 has been released and is being actively promoted throughout the Horowhenua and library communities. A series of tutorials have been prepared explaining how to use Kete at an advanced level.
