Community Partnership funding is extending the 'Computers in Homes' scheme to 100 families in the region, targeting geographically and socially isolated people.
A total of 82 participants have now engaged in ‘Computers in Homes’ in the Westland District and the project is due to be completed soon. Three permanent sites – in Hokitika, Greymouth and Cobden – now operate over six training sessions per week. The scheme also has the facility to move into two new communities and the more isolated schools have been visited again to ensure no one is missed. 78 participants have completed the programme and report the one-to-one tuition and the ability to choose their priorities and their lesson plan has been extremely valuable.
